A Message from the Gaffer

We head towards potentially our last scheduled preseason friendly tomorrow away to Step 5 Desborough Town, who I managed for two years approx 7/8 years ago.

We have had a fantastic preseason. New management team in place, I have to say a massive thank you to Rob, Mike, Ryan, Callum and Rob for all the effort and commitment they have shown during this time. They have worked tirelessly to implement methods and training practices I have wanted the players to go through during the last 4 weeks, understanding what’s expected of them as well as the players and how I want to do things. They have been superb and I can’t thank them enough.

The players have been superb, we have had plenty come into trial and for us to look at. It has been different for some of them and harder for others, but from the first time we met and we went through what I expect from them as players this year they have been exceptional in their efforts to learn and develop but also to take on new information and understandings that we are implementing. We have seen massive improvement during this time and I believe the players have enjoyed it too as they are becoming better players as a result.

Whatever people’s perception of Paget Rangers over the last couple of seasons has been, I can absolute guarantee we will be a different club this season. Off the pitch from the board who have been unbelievable and have let me get on and do things the way, myself and the backroom staff see fit.

I have assembled a squad now that I believe will show Paget Rangers for who we are this season. Tough to play, hardworking and will fight for each other on and off the pitch, we have a good changing room now and with the squad of approx 24, we have been working with other clubs to ensure all players will be playing every week to keep up fitness and match sharpness if and when we need them in the matchday squad.

With the return of supporters we want to show them a style of football that will encourage them to support us in larger numbers this season, they are so important in helping the players and we will do everything we can to put smiles on their faces this season. I can’t wait to start next week and with a hope of a good season, we can bring some joy and happiness to everyone associated with the club.

Come and support us. Up the Bears!

Steve
