After a very disappointing run of results, which has left Paget without a league win this year, we caught up with manager James Parker as he looks to turn the team’s fortunes around.
“There can be no doubt that we now find ourselves in a relegation battle and the next 7 games are 7 Cup Finals for us. I’m convinced that we have enough talent in the squad to win the games we need to that will pull us away from the danger zone.
We can’t escape the fact that our recent results have been very poor. I make no apologies for giving the players the hairdryer treatment at halftime last week in the Cup Game at Tividale. The first half followed on from a very poor performance away to Ingles the previous Saturday and was simply not acceptable.
We have some massive games coming up, starting with tonight’s encounter away to Heath Hayes, which is without doubt a six pointer. It’s up to the players now to show the desire and determination we need to put points on the board and get ourselves out of trouble. I shall be looking for leaders all over the pitch in every game from tonight to the end of the season. The players have to show the desire to put their bodies on the line for the team in defence and the courage in possession to create the opportunities to go and win games.”
Let’s hope that the team can mirror Parker’s passion and determination!
